Coll wins Squash Player’s Player of the Month award

New Zealander Paul Coll has been named Player of the Month for May by the authoritative London-based Squash Player magazine for his win in the Paris Open in April.

Coll, who is from Christchurch and has been spending time in Europe, said: "For the last 18 months I have been partly basing myself in Holland, where I have managed to get valuable court time with top 20 players, which was great exposure for me and took my game to the next level.

"In the up and coming months I have a busy schedule in NZ, playing five PSA tournaments. Winning one or more of these would be great and to also crack the top 60 would be nice."

The 22-year-old, also a semi-finalist in the recent $15,000 Irish Open, is now fully recovered from a minor hip problem which led to him missing February and March PSA tournaments.

"I spent six weeks on the Gold Coast with Rod Eyles and his academy, where I was able to get stuck into some serious fitness training, which benefited me for the three months I was in Holland," he said.
